Nikola Koeppl (b. 4th of July, 1984) is a Sydney based, emerging Australian Artist. Graduating from the National Art School in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Sculpture, Niki primarily works as a Watercolourist, Sculptor and Portrait Artist at her art studio in Matraville.
Painting in watercolours as well as drawing with various dry media are significant mediums in her current art making. Niki has been creating a body of work inspired by studies on the human form, exploring the structure and patterns of the body and expression while mastering the fluidity of watercolours.
Sculpting with clay, plaster casting and moulding is also a fundamental medium in Niki’s work where this process helps her art practice in the study of anatomy and creativity.
As a freelance artist, Niki receives work for portrait commissions, as well as teaching art classes and workshops. Niki also works professionally as a fine art materials product demonstrator – focusing on a number of skills and techniques using a broad range of mediums from leading art supply brands.
Coming from an artistic family, creativity has always played an important role her entire life. Her father Kurt Koeppl, a talented, prolific artist and well known within the Sydney eastern suburbs community, has been a major inspiration in Niki’s artistic practice.
Niki was the 2019 Treasurer of Randwick Art Society and is an elected committee member for 2020.
