Mary Guest has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. Studies include portrait drawing in summer school at Julian Ashton in Sydney; various evening classes, practical classes in Visual Arts and Drawing at university while studying psychology; Watercolour painting with the Queensland Watercolour Society in Brisbane and some art therapy with MIECAT (Melbourne Institute of Expressive and Creative Arts Therapy) in Brisbane.
Employment includes a year of map drawing at a survey company and 6 years in animation in Sydney; as well as 6 months as a graphic artist with Open College of TAFE in Sydney. She also ran art therapy groups and used art therapy in her practice in counselling and psychology over 12 years.
Memberships include Queensland Watercolour Society and Maler der Baracke (a Painting Society in Backnang, Germany). She has exhibited with groups in Ballina, NSW and in Backnang, Germany.
Mary loves to capture light and movement in her work, as well as being inspired by foreign destinations.
